Mariah’s Last Stand: On Flats

A little more on Mariah Carey’s humorous fall on stage in Singapore.

Apparently she twisted her ankle in those high fashion boots. A friend told her she should have packed more sensible shoes. Mariah’s response: “I don’t have any!”

Now Mariah’s publicist, Cindi Berger, is sending her flats via Federal Express.

But still no one is saying anything about Mariah’s much rumored pregnancy. There’s always a chance that she is not pregnant, that her larger size is due to the process of trying to get pregnant–steroids, etc. What way to live, in a fishbowl. You wonder sometimes how people can take being observed and commented on constantly.

One thing about Mariah: she has a sense of humor. And to one commenter who wrote in about her voice: on the You Tube clips, to me, Mariah sounds just fine.

I know there are Madonna v. Mariah fanatics who want to start something but really: no one ever accused Madonna of being a great singer. Madonna has always had the abilities of a great showman and producer. She’s the Flo Ziegfeld of our time.

So Why Is Mariah Carey in a Wheelchair?

Mariah Carey, you had us worried.

You roll through LAX in a wheelchair yesterday and automatically we start thinking the worst about you and your, um, condition.

So what gives?

This is what rep Cindi Berger is telling E! News: “Mariah twisted her ankle in Singapore and should have packed more sensible shoes, but she doesn’t have any. I’m sending her a pair of flats today.”

Phew. We know it’s wrong to make assumptions based on some suspicious photos but it’s good to hear Carey is going to be OK.

Mariah, here’s to a speedy recovery from that darn twisted ankle.

Mariah Carey to Host Nick Cannon’s 30th Bash

Nick Cannon is looking to make a killing on his 30th birthday — reps for Mariah Carey’s husband have sent out a mass e-mail looking for corporate sponsors to pay $25,000 for three tweets from next month’s bicoastal bash.

Announcing that “confirmed” guests will include Mariah as host, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Will and Jada Smith, Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, Kobe Bryant, Quincy Jones, L.A. Reid and Jamie Foxx, Cannon is searching for sponsors for a New York party Oct. 8 and an LA bash at Universal Studios Oct. 9.

In an e-mail sent wide, reps for the NBC “America’s Got Talent” host say: “This is an extremely exciting opportunity to sponsor a fun and lavish event . . . opportunities range from gift bags and signage to tweets and photo ops.”

A one-sheet flier for the “Nick Cannon Birthday celebration hosted by Mariah Carey” offers sponsors the chance to pay $2,500 to be in the gift bag, while a $15,000 donation includes “one tweet” and “mention in all p.r. materials.”

For $25,000 you can be a “host sponsor” which includes “three tweets,” a “right to service out photos” and a “logo on all collateral,” which we hope doesn’t refer to the “confirmed” celebrity guests.

And those prices only refer to a single city, with special “packages” that can be created for both New York and LA.

Cannon, who married Carey in 2008, really doesn’t need the cash. He’s in his second year of hosting the NBC talent show, while Mariah’s wealth was estimated at $400 million this year.

But the pair are well known for throwing lavish birthday bashes. For Mariah’s 39th last year, he whisked her off to Barbados for a party that was covered in People magazine. For her 40th this year, Cannon bought his wife a pink Porsche, for which she thanked him on Twitter. Their wedding party was celebrated at Six Flags.

A rep for Cannon didn’t get back to us.

The new album will also feature holiday classics, including "The First Noel," "Little Drummer Boy," "O Little Town of Bethlehem," and "O Come All Ye Faithful." Mariah Carey has teamed with superstar producers. Music mogul LA Reid provided guidance and expertise. Mariah Carey also worked with longtime friend and musical director-producer extraordinaire Randy Jackson to create this new sequel to her first Christmas album. In addition, she collaborated with uber producer Jermaine Dupri (with whom she wrote "Always Be My Baby" and "We Belong Together" among others); Marc Shaiman, the award-winning musical genius, writer and arranger who did the magical orchestration for the entire album; and the critically acclaimed James Poyser of The Roots, who also worked with Mariah Carey on her massive album "The Emancipation of Mimi."

Merry Christmas II You and the exclusive DVD will be sold on HSN as part of an exclusive value pack for $14.95.

MERRY CHRISTMAS II YOU is Mariah Carey's 13th studio album, and follows up her worldwide multi-million-selling Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel (released September 2009), her multi-platinum E=MC(2) (2008), and worldwide 10 million selling The Emancipation Of Mimi (2005). The Emancipation Of Mimi generated three Grammy awards (including Best Contemporary R&B Album), two #1 singles, and countless more honors during its 18-month chart stay. Soundscan's biggest-selling album of 2005, Mimi featured "We Belong Together" (Grammy winner for Best Female R&B Vocal and Best R&B Song) and "Don't Forget About Us," Mariah's 16th and 17th #1 career singles respectively. They tied one of the most enduring chart records in Billboard Hot 100 history, Elvis Presley's 17 #1's.

Three years later, Mariah surpassed Elvis when "Touch My Body" (from E=MC(2)) became her 18th #1 Hot 100 hit. "Touch My Body" spent two weeks at the top, Mariah's 78th and 79th cumulative career weeks at #1, which tied Elvis' long-standing all-time high of 79 weeks at #1, as calculated by Billboard. Mariah is now positioned as the only active recording artist in the 52 years of the Hot 100 (which began in 1958) with the potential to surpass the Beatles' all-time high of 20 #1 hits. The success of E=MC(2) brought total sales of Mariah's albums, singles and videos to more than 200 million worldwide, distancing her even further from the pack as the top-selling female recording artist in history.

Mariah Carey’s Singapore Slip-Up

She’s loved all over the world for her expansive pop music career, and over the weekend Mariah Carey performed a concert in Singapore.

The “Touch My Body” babe wore some tummy-masking outfits as she performed at the city’s post-Formula 1 Grand Prix shindig, further contributing to the pregnancy rumors.

And during her song “Make It Happen,” Mariah was tripped up by her high heels and ended up tumbling to the stage.

After the gig, she tweeted, “TY SO much to my fans in Singapore!!! Yeah, several hectic moments, (lol!)but I tried to swirl them into festive!.Love+ God Bless!”

Mariah Carey takes a tumble

MARIAH CAREY nearly surrendered her diva crown after falling like a plonker flat on her backside.
But the singer grabbed it back with full force by calling on assistants to help her back on her feet.

Everything went a little pear-shaped as the curvaceous warbler toppled over à la NAOMI CAMPBELL during a gig in Singapore.

Mariah’s spectacular tumble happened as she belted out Make It Happen at the Formula 1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix.

Credit where it’s due, though. Instead of stomping off to her dressing room, Mariah simply joked: “I did that on purpose.”

She then called out to her assistants so they could help her remove her shoes.

Despite the embarrassing moment, the pop star continued her performance and sang Dreamlover barefoot.

Mariah also sparked pregnancy rumours by covering her tummy in a variety of figure-warping outfits.

Mariah's F1 Gig Raises the Bar

In more ways than one, singer Mariah Carey was the biggest star at the Singapore Grand Prix concerts at the Padang.

When she appeared on Sunday at 10.40pm, shortly after Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso won the Formula One night race, many fans remarked how her yo-yo-ing weight was on the heavy side at the moment. Carey, who is married to actor/host Nick Cannon, has yet to confirm rumours that she is pregnant but she did look heftier than in her publicity pictures.

That was not the only surprise. Diva reputation notwithstanding, Carey showed that she could laugh at herself. She tumbled and fell on her butt after the first few songs and immediately laughed it off, blaming her $10,000 high-heeled shoes, which her assistants helped her remove while she continued singing.

Later she joked: 'They call me a diva but I am pouring my own drink.'

Truly, it was a night she was exceptionally chatty between songs. More importantly, she could still hit the high notes, no doubt pleasing the 35,000-strong crowd thronging the Padang on the final night of the F1 weekend.

The performances by Carey and other pop acts such as Adam Lambert and Missy Elliott within the circuit park from last Friday to Sunday were certainly among the biggest gigs in the local concert calendar this year. Especially since F1 Rocks, which brought in Beyonce last year, went missing in action.

Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Broadway Show?

MARIAH Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You is one of the few tolerable yuletide tunes, and now we hear it is to be the basis for a new Broadway show about her life.

The project, named after the song, will be ready in time for next year’s festive season in New York and could even see Mariah making a few guest appearances.

“Mariah’s going to be involved in the whole process”, says a source close to the 40-year-old singer.

“She’s got so many fans in the US who want to know her story so it’s a great idea. The casting process hasn’t begun yet but will kick off at the beginning of next year. She’s certainly going to be a busy girl, she’s already bringing out a Christmas album this year, Merry Christmas To You, but as of next year this will be taking her focus. And If it all goes to plan hopefully it will be hitting the UK afterwards”.

Mariah Carey is releasing a Christmas album.

The 'We Belong Together' singer - who is believed to be expecting her first child with husband Nick Cannon - has recorded her second festive LP, entitled 'Merry Christmas II You', and will release it on November 2.

Produced by 'American Idol' judge Randy Jackson, James Poyser, Jermaine Dupri and award-winning composer Marc Shaiman the LP will feature Yule-tide classics such as 'O Little Town of Bethlehem', 'The First Noel' and 'Little Drummer Boy', as well as four original songs composed by the pop beauty.

A new version of Mariah's most famous seasonal track 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' - which featured on the album 'Merry Christmas' - will also appear on the album.

Despite having been first released in 1994, 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' continues to appear on the Billboard Hot 100 Recurrent Singles chart each Christmas, hitting the number one spot every year from 2005 to 2008.

It is still not clear whether Mariah and Nick will be preparing for the patter of tiny feet by Christmas time.

Although she is widely rumoured to be pregnant, the singer refuses to publically confirm or deny the news.

Last month, she posted on her website: 'I appreciate everyone's well wishes. But I am very superstitious. When the time is right, everyone will know.'

Mariah Carey set to go head-to-head with Susan Boyle in the UK

Mariah Carey has reigned as queen of Christmas hits since All I Want for Christmas is You, released in 1994, became one of the most popular festive tracks of all time.

It has now been confirmed that she will release a new Christmas album on November 2 called Merry Christmas ll You, featuring covers including Little Drummer Boy and The First Noel.

It will also feature original songs including a track called Oh Santa.

Whilst Mariah has enjoyed massive success in the Christmas market she may have competition this year in the form of another internationally renowned female artist – Susan Boyle.

Su-Bo will also release a Christmas record featuring a duet with Amber Stassi, the ambulance woman she discovered through her ‘Search for a Star’ competition.

Earlier this year, retailer Amazon predicted Susan’s follow-up to I Dreamed a Dream would clinch the Christmas number one spot after it was reported that over 2 million people have requested to pre-order the Britain’s Got Talent star’s Christmas release.

An inside music source told The Mirror: “We haven’t seen this before. It’s months ahead of the release and already people are putting in requests for pre-sales. It’s an incredible achievement already.”

But with Mariah drafting in big gun producers including Jermaine Dupri, James Poyser and American Idol’s Randy Jackson, it seems she isn’t about to hand over her Christmas crown to Ms Boyle just yet.

Mariah Carey Unwraps Christmas Album Cover, First Single

It may only be September, but Mariah Carey is getting in the holiday spirit. The pop diva has revealed the festive artwork and select song titles from the sequel to her holiday album.

The new collection of seasonal tunes is titled Merry Christmas II You and arrives Nov. 2, as Rap-Up.com first reported. The II represents the follow-up to 1994’s multi-platinum Merry Christmas album, which spawned the now-classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”

Mariah’s official website has unveiled the official cover artwork shot earlier this year by famed photographer David LaChapelle. The Grammy-winning songstress dons her Santa outfit from her 1994 album, and is pictured kneeling on a snowy city rooftop while a snowman and Christmas lights twinkle in the background.

The project will include a brand new recording of “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” plus traditional yuletide fare such as “The First Noel,” “Little Drummer Boy,” “O Little Town of Bethlehem,” and “O Come All Ye Faithful.” In addition, there are four original songs composed by Mariah, including the new single “Oh Santa.”

Randy Jackson, Jermaine Dupri, James Poyser (The Roots, Lauryn Hill), and award-winning composer Marc Shaiman are among the producers.

The song hit #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles Recurrents chart every year from 2005 to 2008. After ringtones began to be charted in 2006, "All I Want For Christmas Is You" hit #1 for the next three consecutive holiday seasons. Mariah Carey to Fulfill Her HSN Destiny

There is nothing shameful about shopping from television anymore, you know, now that Diddy's endorsed it. Hipsters will probably be doing it in a few weeks, too, as a way to rail against the establishment and break up the time they spend filling out the calendars on their iPads. So Mariah Carey has no need to turn her nose up at it, either. In fact launching a "lifestyle collection" on HSN is the perfect way to turn herself from a diva with a fragrance to a diva who is also a full-blown brand; she's starting with an appearance on the channel on November 29 to shill her fragrance along with her new jewelry and shoe lines. The shoes range from $69.90 to $169.90, while the jewelry costs from $39.99 to $199.95. It all sounds fantastic, especially when you think about how amazing it will be to see Mariah on HSN basking in all the attention and fan phone calls, but there is one major problem.

The jewelry comes with a butterfly motif, which is pretty lazy, since whenever a female celebrity needs to launch a jewelry line, she seems to go with something butterfly-oriented. Heidi Klum has made a butterfly tee and LG phone, and today Gisele just ginned up some sandals inspired by butterflies. Even though Mariah Carey has so closely associated herself with the insect for some time, how much does she really own it if she's going to be the millionth person to turn it into an accessory? We think she should spearhead a movement to inspire creativity in celebrity design. Is the ladybug really so repulsive?

Nick Cannon Serenades Mariah Carey... Sorta

America's Got Talent host Nick Cannon joined Mario Lopez at EXTRA's new L.A. home, The Grove, to talk about the talent Nick has seen -- and how he has none of it when it comes to serenading his wife, Mariah Carey.

"I try to serenade her with her own songs. I mess up all the words and she just laughs," Cannon admitted.

Cannon weighed-in on how she'd be as an American Idol judge. She's a "voice technician, people don't really understand how her vocal chords work and how hard she actually works at it, so a show like that would give her a great opportunity to show people what it really takes to be one of the world's best singers."

Exclusive: Mariah Carey Christmas Album Title, Release Date Revealed

Mariah Carey may or may not be pregnant, but one thing’s for sure, she will be delivering a bundle of joy this holiday season. The sequel to the pop songbird’s Christmas album has been given an official title and due date.

Rap-Up.com has exclusively learned that Mimi’s upcoming holiday project will be called Merry Christmas II You. The II represents the follow-up to 1994’s multi-platinum Merry Christmas album, which spawned the now-classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” The new offering is scheduled for a November 2 release and will include original material as well as covers of holiday classics.

An accompanying DVD will also be released the same day, but there are currently no details on what exactly it will contain. The packaging was shot in the spring by famed photographer David LaChapelle and features a festive setting with fake snow, tinsel, and wooden reindeers.

Mariah’s manager Chris Lighty tweeted that she is working with the Home Shopping Network (HSN) to promote the project, which is guaranteed to be the perfect stocking stuffer.
