Mumbai, Feb. 15 -- After R&B star Akon serenaded Kareena Kapoor by singing 'Chammak challo' in his distinctive American accent in RA.One (2011), now another American star Mariah Carey is all set to follow in his footsteps. A trade source reveals that Mariah has been roped in to sing parts of a Hindi song specially composed for the Hindi version of the upcoming fantasy-adventure film, Oz The Great And Powerful, which is directed by Sam Raimi. "Mariah is going to sing a verse of the Hindi song which is being composed for the dubbed version of the film," says the source.
Fans of the singer will be disappointed though as unlike Akon, Mariah is not going to fly down to India, to record or further promote the film. "The makers are hurrying to record the song in Los Angeles around March 12," says the source.
The makers are still mulling over the right lyrics for Mariah's part of the song. "They are shortlisting some of the Indian lyricists to write the paragraph for the song, which will be in synch with the mood of the film," adds the source. As Mariah has only a verse in the song, another Indian-American rapper, whose identity hasn't been disclosed yet, is being signed for the remaining bits.
Walt Disney Pictures, who are distributing the film around the world, are set to release it India a month after the US release on March 8. Produced by Joe Roth, Oz The Great And Powerful is a live animation film that takes place before the events depicted in the 1939 classic The Wizard Of Oz.
