Mariah Carey’s publicist is dismissing reports she will become a first-time mom before the end of the week after her husband Nick Cannon sparked labor rumors following a frantic tweet.
Cannon took to his Twitter account Tuesday night to update followers to his whereabouts and his comments started a gossip frenzy.
He wrote, “On a plane back to NY. Praying Dem Babies wait for DADDY to come back b4 they pop out (sic)!”
But Carey’s rep insists the dad-to-be has got nothing to worry about - the singer is not in labor.
The Hero hitmaker was briefly hospitalized at the weekend after experiencing contractions on Saturday night.
Carey is expecting twins in May.

Nick Cannon on Mariah Carey’s ‘nerve-racking’ contractions
It’ll take a little more than a few contractions to rattle Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey. Reports this week suggested the pair panicked over a possible early arrival of their twins, but all four are doing just fine.
“They’re calling it a ’scare,’ but really, it was just nerve-racking. We were in the hospital from 4 a.m. until I don’t even know,” Cannon told the Ministry.
“The thing with twins is that you want them in their natural incubator as long as possible,” he said. “They might be ready to come out, but we need them to stay in for a while.”
But is mom Mariah ready for their debut? “She’s super ready,” Cannon said with a laugh.
While the dad-to-be confirmed their official due date is May 14 (the day his new comedy album drops and his Feeding America-sponsored charitable initiative “Stamp Out Hunger” launches), he suspects they’ll arrive earlier. Meanwhile, Mariah is enjoying her pregnancy, evidenced by Monday’s baby-bump decorating.
“That’s her finding the fun and festiveness through the pain,” he said.
Another source of joy for the couple has been the embarrassment of gifts in their home trumpeting the fraternal twins.
“We got so much stuff. … There’s all these giant stuffed animals,” he said of the life-sized loot listed on their baby registry, “it looks like Noah’s Arc in here. There’s giraffes, polar bears, lions.”
Though quality swag awaits the kids, Cannon maintains they’ll always be aware of giving back.
After doing several one-off events with Feeding America, which works to eliminate the domestic hunger crisis, Cannon has stepped up to a larger role on their Entertainment Council. His first order of business is the aforementioned “Stamp Out Hunger.”
“This information I was hit with — I was taken aback by how many American go without food, and I came from one of those families,” Cannon said, having been the benefactor of food banks during holidays and larger programs like WIC (Women, Infants and Children).
“One thing I want to make sure of as I raise my children, they definitely have to be involved in these types of things. Just because they’re a little more well off — and lucky, really — I want them to be able to realize they need to do this,” he said.
“Stamp Out Hunger” will use the combined forces of the National Assn. of Letter Carriers and the Campbell Soup Co. On May 14, Americans are encouraged to place a bag of non-perishable food by their mailbox. The goods will be transported by mail carriers to local food banks.

Jasmine's Juice: Mr. & Mrs. Cannon's Baby Shower
After all that pampering I was more than ready to trip across the Atlantic to LA for 2 hours - yes really - I was going for a 2 hour function - Mariah Carey's baby-shower. I spent the last few weeks talking myself down from the trip with the usual logic "it's very extravagant for a 2 hour function," "you can't really afford to act like a diva swanning constantly across the Atlantic," "there are plenty of other festive moments you can share with your mate once the twins arrive." Did any of it help keep my ass here? Nope. I only needed the tiniest of persuading and I was on that plane faster than Usain Bolt.
On the Saturday Mariah had a few close girl friends over at her crib where we caught up over plates of her delicious Italian pasta dinner. I tried to feel the twins kicking by holding Mrs C's belly for a while, we relaxed in the pool and played with the latest additions to the Carey-Cannon household - 2 new female puppies called Jill E. Beans and Sweetie Pie. The significance of the 2 babies that were born merely days earlier was not lost on us all. This is a fertile house!
The following day we made our way up to the uber plush Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills where Mariah's press and management teams had organised a vision of love LOL! The rooftop overlooking the city had been transformed into a blue and pink themed cosy mirage. Candles everywhere, 2 giant stuffed giraffes and a stuffed zebra, pink and blue cupcakes, balloons, and flowers, a 6 foot long table laden down with gifts from us all and a few from some very famous friends that I spotted, gourmet fast food, cocktails and of course - angel champagne for the guests. Mariah and Nick both had a mix of family members and friends in the place.
I was surprised to see that unlike the baby-showers I'm used to attending "IN ENGLAND" (private Cannon joke!), where it's just the mum-to-be and her mates lounging around casually in tracksuits playing baby games and opening gifts, this was an all sexes welcome very sophisticated soiree where we all rejoiced in the pending arrival of the 2 new babies and the joy of their excited parents.
Mariah's tummy is pretty big right now so even though she looked stunning, we insisted she lay back on a plush white chaise lounge (as if she needed convincing!), and her guests took turns in greeting and catching up with her. MC was dressed in a floor length colourful Roberto Cavalli dress with her mermaid like hair cascading down her back. She may be in the most uncomfortable pregnancy months, going through backache and the such but she will always get it together and look her absolute best. Nick wore a 3-piece suit, which reflected the pink and blue theme.
As soon as we arrived American idol star and music impresario Randy Jackson and artist manager Chris Lighty were holding court. It's always fabulous to catch up with BET Television head Stephen Hill (he was once an MTV bod like moi). Multi media maven for TV, Radio and internet B Scott was looking ultra fabulous. New York's not to be messed with publicist Marvet Britto was bubbly and excited. Actress Phylicia Rashard (The Cosy Show) was adorable whilst catching up with us all. But I was most excited to spot in a corner, by himself, looking a little lost - Nick's work colleague and my idol Piers Morgan! I love this man! As if it couldn't be more perfect I am halfway through reading his latest book - I've read them all. They're hilarious! He started as a showbiz columnist like me (at THE SUN) many years ago and graduated to THE MIRROR editor and has always been a wildly fun, opinionated, totally real person that's taken risks - some that have paid off - others that have seen him fired from his position but like a true winner gets up bigger and better. After his MIRROR humiliation - where he was never proven guilty but used as a scapegoat - he hosted a British talk show and now has gone onto being part of America's number 1 entertainment show "America's Got Talent" as well as taking over from Larry King with his own chat show. That's gangsta! I had someone introduce us. Piers looked as if he couldn't have been more relieved to talk to someone and was really very lovely and conversational. He notoriously says he loves flattery and trust me he wouldn't have been disappointed in my chat. I was shamelessly happy to meet a man I've admired for years. When I finally thought I should probably be polite and leave him alone it took all my will power not to jump up and down with excitement!
I returned to check on my girl and ensure she was good and hung out with the 2 grandmas to be for a while. Both Mariah and Nick's mothers were in attendance looking lovely and graceful, Mariah's in blue, Nick's in pinky peach.
As the night wore down to a close, the Cannons took the mic to thank their guests and make little, cute speeches about impending parenthood, next video and film director Brett Ratner took the mic and made a really funny speech after which we were all handed a goody - bag full of very festive Mariahisms to take home. A great moment to cherish for life. Now those twins just need to hurry and arrive when they're ready cos auntie Jasmine has a list of things to teach them - including the thesis of rainbows, butterflies and swimming in the ocean as well as the fact that I will be reading stories to them all night long! Their English accent is gonna be pipper than their mom's!

Mariah Moving Back to Sony?
Here's LA Reid's farewell letter to his staff at Def Jam. Sources tells me he's heading to Sony Music – and of course "X Factor" - come this summer. And you heard this here first too: Mariah Carey will join him and Doug Morris back at Sony in 2012. She has one album left on her UMG contract, and she'll release it before the end of the year. First she has to release those twins, due in two to three weeks.

We continue to have incredible success together with today's most phenomenal superstars - Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Mariah Carey, Kanye West, Bon Jovi, Jennifer Lopez, Ne-Yo, Rick Ross, The Killers, The-Dream, Chrisette Michele, Jeezy and Ludacris to name a few.

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon's 'Festive' Baby Shower
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are expecting twins and the couple gave Life & Style exclusive access to their intimate baby shower on March 6.
"Nick and I were so grateful to everyone who came to celebrate with us," Mariah told the magazine.
Mariah revealed that hers was the only baby shower that the singer had ever attended, saying, "This was my first one -- it was so festive."
The event was held in a space decorated in pink and blue, since the couple is expecting to have a boy and a girl.
"There was a lot of love in the room, and to top it off, fans from more than 50 countries sent well-wishes and stories in a book they made for our twins titled Always Be My Babies, which was the sweetest gesture in the world," said Mariah, who also received gifts from celebrities such as Randy Jackson, Piers Morgan, Penny Marshall and Brett Ratner. "It was a night I will never forget."

Mariah Carey’s Thank You Message To The Fans!
Thank you SO much to all who came to the baby shower last night and all who couldn’t be there but sent such beautiful presents and sweet messages!
Still haven’t really opened all the gifts but seeing so many people who came from all over the world to be there with us was the BEST gift we could ask for!
The “Always Be My Babies” ‘Lamb Book’ is definitely my new prized possession and I can’t thank the Lambs around the world enough for your letters & well wishes.
FYI-we so had a “moment” in the middle of the shower when they presented the book to me and everyone thought it was the cutest, most thoughtful thing ever! Clearly, only the Lambs would swing something like that home!!! It was the best moment of the night. I can’t wait for the twins to read the messages and feel the love!!! : )
Again, thank you so much to our friends and family for making it an unforgettable experience
Love ya much always!!!

Mariah & Nick Celebrate at Blue-and-Pink Baby Shower
The Conservatory Grill at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills was transformed into a blue-and-pink wonderland Sunday, as Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon celebrated the upcoming arrival of their twins with an elegant baby shower.
The parents-to-be arrived at 7 p.m., with Cannon, 30, behind the wheel of a black Rolls-Royce that he gave Carey, 41, as a Christmas gift. They were joined by friends including American Idol judge Randy Jackson.
The adults-only shower had a warm and romantic atmosphere with small cocktail tables that were decorated with pink roses and blue hydrangeas. (They are expecting a boy and a girl.) Pink and blue balloons also dotted the private event.
"Mariah has been anxiously awaiting her shower, and she was very excited when she arrived at the hotel," says a source. "She couldn't wait to celebrate her baby twins with her friends."
Carey and Cannon received many pink-and-blue-wrapped presents and several lavish gifts, including two almost life-size stuffed giraffes and two chairs hand-made for the twins.
Guests nibbled on gourmet appetizers and sipped Angel champagne.
"Mariah had the best time at her shower," says the source. "She was very touched by how nicely everything turned out and excited about all the generous gifts she received. She has been feeling a bit tired and worn out lately, but the shower was an event that she really enjoyed and that made her very happy. Now she can't wait to meet her baby twins!"

Paula Abdul, Mariah Carey on Cowell’s “X Factor” list
Singers Mariah Carey and George Michael, former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger and ex-”American Idol” judge Paula Abdul are all in the running to join Simon Cowell on his upcoming talent show “The X Factor,” Cowell said on Thursday.
But none of them are locked in as judges for the upcoming TV show, and Cowell told celebrity TV show Access Hollywood he was in no hurry to make a decision.
Singer Jessica Simpson was also reported this week to be keen for a spot on the panel of the singing contest. But sources close to the show told People magazine that a final decision may take weeks.
Cowell told Access Hollywood he had spoken to Carey, who is pregnant with twins.
But he added; “We’ve spoken to lots of people. I’ve spoken to Paula…we’ve taken it down to a smaller group of people and she (Abdul) is in that panel. But you know, it’s more than me who makes the decision.”
Despite their often tempestuous relationship on “American Idol”, Cowell has made no secret of his admiration and off-set friendship with the volatile Abdul.
Cowell said last month that he would be one of the “X Factor” judges.
The U.S. version of the “The X Factor” is due to debut on Fox in the fall of 2011, offering an unprecedented $5 million prize for the winner, along with a record contract.
But unlike “Idol”, the “X Factor” judges will mentor the contestants closely, helping them with song choice, production, coaching and even style during the TV contest.
“It’s good to kind of delay the process…You genuinely have got to trust they they’re going to be able to do the job you’re paying them to do,” Cowell said of the new panel.
Cowell said that singers Katy Perry and Elton John — whose names were floated in the media earlier this year –are not on the short list.

Mariah Carey: New Song “Save the Day” To Raise Money for Human Rights Issues
Mariah Carey‘s had a slight pr problem recently. She and other acts like Beyonce and Usher have performed in St. Barts over the last few years at New Year’s Eve parties thrown by the sons of vicious, crazy dictator Muammar Ghaddafi. At the time, Libya was not in the news. The shows were booked by a name promoter who probably was not forthcoming about the true nature of the underwriters. Now it’s become an issue in hindsight, which is sort of ridiculous.
Anyway, Mariah is not happy about what occurred and is stepping up to the plate. First, she tells me that a song she will record for her album, called “Save the Day,” will only generate funds to be donated for human rights issues. She may even set up her own foundation. She’s done this before. All the money ever made from the song “Hero” has gone to charity–millions. She’s also donated millions from DVDs and from the song “One Sweet Day,” which she recorded with Boyz II Men.
Carey has always been very philanthropic. She still runs her annual Camp Mariah through the Fresh Air Fund; she supports it financially. She’s even given her image to PETA to sell, although considering the weather today she might want it back!
Mariah’s official statement about the birthday event: “I was naïve and unaware of who I was booked to perform for. I feel horrible and embarrassed to have participated in this mess. Going forward, this is a lesson for all artists to learn from. We need to be more aware and take more responsibility regardless of who books our shows. Ultimately we as artists are to be held accountable.”

Mariah 'Embarrassed' Over Gadhafi-linked Concert
Mariah Carey says she was unaware that she was booked to perform a concert linked to Gadhafi's clan — and she's embarrassed "to have participated in this mess."
Carey is among a handful of entertainers who were paid handsome fees to give exclusive private concerts. It was later revealed the people behind those concerts were the family of Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, whose country is in an open revolt against him and who faces an investigation for possible war crimes.
This week, Nelly Furtado announced she is giving the $1 million fee she was paid in 2007 to charity; Beyonce said in a statement Wednesday that she donated her fees for a 2009 New Year's Eve performance in St. Bart's to Haiti earthquake relief once she discovered the Gadhafi link.
Carey performed in St. Bart's in 2008, but in a statement released to The Associated Press on Thursday, she said she didn't know she was performing for an infamous family.
"I was naive and unaware of who I was booked to perform for. I feel horrible and embarrassed to have participated in this mess," the 40-year-old singer said. "Going forward, this is a lesson for all artists to learn from. We need to be more aware and take more responsibility regardless of who books our shows. Ultimately, we as artists are to be held accountable."
Carey's representative, Cindi Berger, would not comment on how much Carey was paid for the performance. But she noted that Carey has donated millions throughout the years to charity, from royalties from her hits "Hero" and "One Sweet Day" to her own foundation, Camp Mariah.
Berger said Carey will also donate royalties for the song "Save the Day," which she has written for her upcoming album, to charities that create awareness for human-rights issues.
"Mariah has and continues to donate her time, money and countless hours of personal service to many organizations both here and abroad," Berger said.
The album is not due out anytime soon; Carey is pregnant with a boy and girl, and she and husband Nick Cannon are expecting the babies in the spring.

TooFab has learned the pregnant singer's "Pink and Blue" shower will be held this Sunday night from 7pm-9pm at a swanky Bev. Hills hotel -- "Pink and Blue" because Carey's having a girl and boy with husband Nick Cannon.
The bash is being hosted by Mariah's publicist Cindi Berger, her manager Louise McNally and Stefano Zagni of Angel Champagne -- check out the full invite above!
We've also learned some of the items on Carey's gift registry for the shower, which includes a $2,000 custom-made bedding set for a crib, a $350 custom-made car seat cover, a $1,200 giraffe and, surprisingly, no Hello Kitty!
Mariah is due this Spring.
