Nick Cannon: Mariah Carey is being ’spiritual’ right now
“I think it’s more of a spiritual thing,” Cannon, 29, told UsMagazine.com at Sunday’s Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day at the U.S. Open. “Like trying to stay true and stay private for as long as you possibly can. She wants to keep as much privacy as she possibly can.”
“When the time is right, everyone will know,” Mariah said in her message.
Nick told Us that she is “working” on an album in L.A. and feeling “good.”
Would Cannon welcome twins? “Yeah! Octomom. Nine kids at once,” he joked. “Whatever happens, whatever life God blesses you with, you have to take it and appreciate it.”

Jessica Simpson, Mariah Carey Ready New Christmas Albums
Mariah is releasing her first holiday album since 1994’s “Merry Christmas,” which has been certified 5x platinum in the U.S. Carey, who created a modern yuletide classic in “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” is set to feature a remix of the track on her upcoming album, which is set to feature both original songs and covers.
Carey is teaming up with her former musical director and “American Idol” judge Randy Jackson on the project, who also produced one of her most underrated album tracks “Subtle Invitation” off 2003’s “Charmbracelet.” She’s also working with Broadway composer Marc Shaiman, who helped bring the music of “Hairspray” and the upcoming “Catch Me If You Can” to the stage.
Jessica Simpson is also set to release her second holiday collection. Her first, “Rejoyce: The Christmas Album,” made much less of an impact than Carey’s. It was originally released as a 7-Eleven exclusive EP (yes, that 7-Eleven), and later fleshed out to a fuller album. It featured duets with then-husband Nick Lachey and sister Ashlee Simpson.
“Rejoyce,” Simpson’s best-selling album since 2003’s “In This Skin,” featured covers of songs like “O Holy Night” and “What Christmas Means To Me” and an original Simpson co-write, “It’s Christmas Time Again.” Simpson is currently in the studio recording the new album, on the fast-track to hit shelves before December.
Carey and Simpson aren’t the only divas feeling the holiday spirit this year. Katharine McPhee is following up her sophomore effort “Unbroken” with her first seasonal collection. Tentatively titled “Christmas Is the Time…To Say I Love You,” McPhee’s album is set to feature an original self-written ballad along with classic covers. Check out her “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” cover, released last year, for a taste.
Although not confirmed, Susan Boyle is reportedly readying a holiday album to follow-up last year’s smash “I Dreamed a Dream” album. Annie Lennox is also set to release her first holiday collection, “A Christmas Cornucopia,” this fall.

Nick Cannon Talks Having Babies With Mariah: ‘We Would Love To Expand’
“When she’s ready to say whatever she wants to say, she’ll say it,” Nick told Access backstage at “America’s Got Talent” on Wednesday night when asked about his wife. “She’s like, appreciating all the love that’s coming out… from everywhere, but it’s just like when she’s ready to talk she’ll talk.”
As for his desire to be a dad, Nick has his sights on increasing the Cannon-Carey brood.
“That’s the purpose of having a union and getting married is to have a family,” Nick told Access. “Right now, her and I are family, but of course we would love to expand.”
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, according to Radar Online, Mariah is four months pregnant. One Radar source claimed that Nick has been sharing the news only with close friends.
As of Thursday morning, a rep for Mariah was not immediately available for comment when contacted by Access Hollywood.
Mariah stirred speculation by appearing very pregnant on stage in Brazil this past weekend.

Mariah Carey: Broadway Collaborator Working on New Record
Mariah has been trying to get pregnant. She doesn’t need any stress from the tabloid press, believe me.
On the other hand, Mariah has been working hard in the studio with producer Randy Jackson. She’s even brought in an unusual collaborator: Broadway’s Marc Shaiman, who wrote “Hairspray” and dozens of hits. Shaiman is also a five time Oscar nominee. This is really interesting since Shaiman could be fashioning some colossal material for Mariah. Whoever came up with that idea was really thinking outside the box. Shaiman most recently worked with Bette Midler on a great song about late producer Arif Mardin which appears on an album called “The Greatest Ears in the World.” I wish more people could hear it.
Mariah told me in an email last week that Shaiman was her favorite collaborator since her days with Walter Afanasieff. “He’s so talented and can hear the chords in my head.”
If she is pregnant, Mariah is not saying. So let’s leave her alone until she’s ready. And hope her album is the breakthrough she’s aiming for.

Pregnant or Not, Leave Mariah Carey Alone!
Poor Mariah Carey is being subjected to all sorts of is-she-or-isn't-she meanness today, after some less than flattering footage of her hit the Web:
Billboard.com broke the "story" about our favorite pop honey's possible pregnancy. What's the proof? Because she looks larger, that's all.
It's totally ridiculous that just because she's photographed from an awful and awkward angle (we've all been there, right?), people are fueling the speculation that her voluptuous frame means that she's with child. Even some of our own have put her on baby watch, and with no evidence other than a little muffin-top on the edges.
We'll admit, she's looking a little larger than life in the photos and video—but for as long as she's been around, she's always been rocking the love curves! She's been looking freakin' great lately, to be sure, and to call her out now on her looks seems downright mean.
Now, if you want to talk about Mariah's cryptic Twitter messages or hubby Nick Cannon's announcement on his radio show as being fodder for the pregnancy fire, then that's another story.
"When my wife feels like talking about something, Perez you will hear it from her first," said Cannon in response to a phone call from Perez Hilton. "We all know that it's extremely personal for a woman to deal with the idea of child birth. We know we are public figures, but that's something that you want to keep near and dear until you're 100 percent certain."
Doesn't sound like Nick's trying to hush the story like Mariah's reps are (who say there is "nothing to comment on"). But pregnant or not, we draw the line at the idea that a larger Mariah single-handedly equals a future-mommy Mariah.
This is dangerous territory:
Consider a story of our fave Cougar Town hottie Busy Philipps? After a Australian newspaper bogusly reported that she was pregnant, we were eye-witnesses as some trashy reporter asked her on a carpet if she was expecting, to which Busy responded, "Are you kidding me right now? That's so incredibly rude."
And it's true. Even though the reporter showed Busy the news story and got her due apology, we think it's just about one of the worst things you can do to assume pregnancy based on some, uh, bigger bones.
We'll just keep our mouths shut—even though a preggers M would make us super happy, have to admit.

Something to tell us, Mariah? Diva Carey is looking curvier than ever
The singer and husband Nick Cannon have made no secret of their desire to start a family and the diva’s fuller figure will no doubt fuel speculation that motherhood could be on the cards.
Mariah, 40, was pictured in Brazil leaving a steak house in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and poured her voluptuous frame into a flowing brown maxi dress.
Back in October Mariah and her husband of two years Nick admitted they were keen to have children in the near future.
‘Definitely, we want a family,’ the American star told InTouch magazine. ‘Yes, of course. It’s at the forefront of our minds.
‘We’re very close. But we want to enjoy our first year together.
In the interview the couple, who split their time between their Los Angeles and New York homes, revealed they would like to have two children.
At the Independent Spirit Awards in March, Mariah dropped another hint, telling the crowd: ‘Something else very special is on the way!’
And in June, America’s Got Talent host Cannon, 29, joked he had a big announcement to make, saying: ‘I do want to make a big announcement right here on Daily 10 (an entertainment news show broadcast on the U.S. cable channel E!)… my Jack Russell terrier puppy Cha Cha is pregnant again!’
Yo-yo dieter Mariah was snapped on Thursday ahead of her scheduled performance at the Festa do Peão de Boiadeiro cowboy festival this weekend in Barretos, in the north of Sao Paulo.
But it’s not just the singer and actress’s personal life which is sending the rumour mill into overdrive.
According to reports the Precious actress is still in negotiations to be a judge on American Idol, according to a US report.
Sources claim the pop diva is keen to take part in the reality show because she’s seen the way America’s Got Talent has boosted her husband’s career.
If she signs up for the show she will sit on the panel alongside veteran judge Randy Jackson.
Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler is hotly tipped to fill another seat.
Carey, 40, is understood to have been approached by the Idol producers after music mogul Simon Cowell announced he was stepping down from the show.
The superstar singer has remained tight-lipped about whether she will take the judge’s job, but a celebrity news blog claims she is giving it some serious consideration.
‘She wants it,’ the source reportedly said. ‘She’s seen what America’s Got Talent has done for [her husband] Nick Cannon and thinks it will be a good career move.’
A rep for Carey has neither confirmed nor denied the rumours so far, simply stating that there is ‘nothing to report’.
According to the blog, Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe is keen to keep the judging panel down to three people - rather than the four they have seen in previous series.
The source claims Carey and Jackson have ‘great chemistry’, but this should come as no surprise seeing as they have worked together.
Jackson, 53, once worked as the pop diva’s musical director and has written and produced songs for her in the past.
Cowell, 50, announced that he was stepping down from American Idol in January this year - and fellow judge Ellen DeGeneres later revealed that she was also leaving the show.
It is unclear whether singer-songwriter Kara Dioguardi will be returning to the judges’ panel, but Tyler’s place on the show is reportedly ‘all but a done deal’.

Mariah Carey Touches Down in Brazil
During a recent press conference in Seoul, South Korea, Island Def Jam executive Matt Voss announced that Mariah’s Christmas album will be released on November 2. It will reportedly feature six new songs, plus covers and a new mix of her classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” The album’s packaging was shot by famed photographer David LaChapelle.

Live Comedy: Nick Cannon
And what’s more, he hones it every week joking with Piers Morgan as the host of America’s Got Talent.
Cannon has gone back to his standup roots this summer, with a US-wide tour, which he kicked off at the Playboy Comedy Club at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas last week.
The supercool hotel - which is the resort of choice for countless celebs on their trips to Vegas - is where he and Mariah held their one year anniversary bash last year. So it was only appropriate that most of his set revolves around married life.
Even before the gig, he announced: “I’ve been holding my tongue for a while, and I just celebrated my two year anniversary, so it’s time to go out there and start talking.”
And talk he does. He tells us that even he wouldn’t have believed that he’d married Mariah Carey. That they sit in bed together eating popcorn, watching America’s Got Talent. That he cleans the house using her album covers as dustpans.
He even lets slip that, like Katie Holmes dreaming of marrying Tom Cruise as a child, his number one teenage crush was Mariah.
And her perfectly coiffed image takes a battering as he describes her smearing her face with nightcream before she goes to bed.
The set seems more rehearsed than improvised, but Cannon knows where the laughs are, and he gets every one.
His weekly rounds of banter with Piers Morgan on America’s Got Talent have obviously kept him on his toes.
The women in the audience adore his every mention of his wife, and the men enjoy his impression of a henpecked husband.
It’s not all light - he ends the set with a terrifying account of a gig he played in Tennessee, which ended in racial abuse.
But even in the darkest subject matter, he gets the laughs.
By the end of the show, Cannon has achieved the impossible - leaving the audience with the impression that Mariah Carey is a normal woman.
You have to wonder: does she know what he’s saying about her every night across America?
If she does, underneath the fearsome reputation, she must have a pretty good sense of humour.
Because on this tour, the jokes are on her.
